Aurea Amorita Finney

May 8, 1987 — April 19, 2024

Ms. Aurea Amorita Finney, was born on May 8, 1987 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Aurea Elena Alvarado and Essex Bernard Finney, Jr. After several years, she relocated with her mother to Petersburg, VA where she attended and graduated from Appomattox Regional Governor's School with a focus in theatrical arts.

Aurea, endearingly called Amorita by her family, entered into eternal rest with our Lord suddenly on Friday, April 19, 2024 due to a car accident.

Amorita was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Aurea E. Alvarado and Luis Alvarado-Ginorio; paternal grandparents, Essex and Corine Finney; and brother, Darien Micheal Finney.

Amorita accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized at Life Church located at 8378 Atlee Rd in Mechanicsville, VA, under the pastorship of Pastor Buddy Thompson.

Amorita was very loving, resourceful, and talented. She loved her plants, cooking, spontaneity, and helping anyone in need. Aurea could do anything when it came to careers. From being a Retail Manager to restaurant General Manager, she handled customers with kindness and understanding. As a Client Engagement Specialist with Owens & Minor, she championed one of their largest national customers with great negotiating skills. Aurea was even an independent entrepreneur and made her own jewelry, candles, soaps, and even sanitizers during COVID-19. Her most recent career opportunity as a Program Support Technician with the Department of Social Services was just getting started as she looked forward to making a difference and doing her part for the team.

Aurea Amorita Finney leaves to cherish her memories, her loving son, Victor Luis Martinez; her devoted mothers, Aurea Alvarado and Deborah Vaughn; father, Essex Finney Jr; brothers, Jose Concepcion III (Amanda DeArmas), Julian Vaughn, Essex Finney, III; aunts, Iris Talley (Mel), Louise Pines, Bernetta Finney-Vincent; one uncle, Bishop Hampton Finney; one specially loved nephew, Jose (JoJo) Concepcion IV; longtime friends, Crystal Clavin and Bennie Martinez; a cherished cousin, Kristen Chapman; and a host of many other adored cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
