Avery Wayne Pierce, Jr., 34, departed this life June 18, 2024, in a traffic accident near Toledo, Ohio.
Avery is survived by his devoted mother, Jennifer Pierce Updike (Michael); his beloved sister, Alexis Anne Gardner; stepsister, Johnie Updike Cochran (Tony); and nephew, Joey Flayhart; grandparents, Linda Howard, Pat and Gov Jackson.
He also leaves behind his dear aunties, Kerry (Todd) Leatherwood, Dawn (Paul) Reeve, Julia Pierce Beach (Brandon), Julian Pierce (Reges Hansen Pierce), and Avery Pierce, Sr. (Jennifer); and cousins, Stephanie (Stephen) Reavis, Brandon Leatherwood (Allie), Kelsey (Brett) Starcher, Dinah (Will) Krom, Anthony Quinn, Caleb Barger, Jacob Barger (Alexandria), Kristina Karlsen, Tijuana (Brian) Mun, Nick Reeve (Taylor), Pierce Beach, Jackson Beach, Julian Beach, Julian Pierce III, Julia Hansen, Artemis Hansen, Apollo Pierce and Ava Pierce.
Avery loved going to concerts, dancing, gaming and socializing with his dear friends, Zack, Steven, Cody and Jenny, Bryce, Phil, and Kyle, Derrick; and KiKi, his best friend and loving cat.
Avery attended Old Dominion University, Thomas Nelson College and INOVA College. He was born and raised in Surry County, VA where he graduated from Surry County High School in 2008. In early adulthood, Avery moved to Northern Virginia where he enjoyed the city lifestyle.
Memorial Services will be at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 3:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior to service, the family will also receive family and friends after the service.
He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.
