Barbara Adkins

Barbara Phillips Adkins, 70, of Dinwiddie County, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at her residence. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wright and Lottie Mae Vaughan Phillips. A devoted Christian, she was an active member of Western Heights Baptist Church. She was a school bus driver for Dinwiddie County for over 35 years and a volunteer at Rohoic Elementary School. Mrs. Adkins was a devoted wife and mother, and a loving grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Adkins; sons, Ronald A. Adkins and wife, Sherry of Surry, VA, Calvin W. Adkins, Sr. and wife, Michelle, Michael E. Adkins and wife, Barbara, and Brian K. Adkins and wife, Angie; grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Kristin, Calvin, Jr., Thomas, LeAnn, and Steven; brother, Thomas Eugene Phillips and wife, Judy; niece, Tara Phillips; nephew, Travis Phillips. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 23rd, at Western Heights Baptist Church, with Pastor Jon Dundalow, officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the church.
