Barbara Jean Belton, 77, of South Chesterfield, VA, passed away on January 23, 2025. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Roy Raymond Robertson and Mary Hester Clark Reed. She was a graduate of Colonial Heights High School. Barbara retired from Phillip Morris, Inc. where her position was a fork lift operator. Prior to that, she worked as a toll road attendant, and at C&P Telephone where she was an operator. She was a member of Rolling Thunder Chapter 5, where she and her husband proudly served in many community events, namely the Toy Ride, benefiting children at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, and serving the veterans at the McGuire VA Hospital.
Barbara was an avid gardener and crafter. She enjoyed creating art with sea shells that she and her husband found on the beaches that they visited in their travels. She also enjoyed making floral arrangements in her spare time. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the United States with their camper while hauling the Harley Davidson motorcycle. Barbara is fondly remembered for always having a spread of food prepared for her children and all of their friends before she went off to work in the afternoon. She had a love for making the holidays special for the kids and grandkids. She will forever be remembered for the extravagant Easter egg hunts and the explosion of gifts on Christmas morning.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jerry Belton, Sr; four children, Mary Schoenfelder and the late Thomas Schoenfelder, Jerry Belton, Jr., Sherry Francis and husband, Chris, Roy Belton and wife, Mandy; eleven grandchildren, Kristi LeSueur (Johnny), Kelly Jones (Austin), Matthew Schoenfelder, Christopher Francis (Selena), Lauren Francis (Justin), Destiny Belton, Leanne Belton (Stuart), Lexi Belton, Abby Belton, Savannah Harrison, and Seth Harrison; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Branch; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation for family and friends at the Petersburg chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Theresa Swindell officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park in Petersburg, VA. The family would like to give a special thank you to Crater Community Hospice and to extended family and friends that have given extra support during this difficult time.
