Barbara H. Bridgman, born August 18, 1937, battled Alzheimer’s for many years and passed away Tuesday, October 26th. Born and raised in Chesterfield, she lived in Colonial Heights most of her adult life. She retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co in Petersburg and then from Mt. Pleasant Day Care, where she touched the lives of many young ones just by being “Granny” in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Moose and an avid dancer and fun loving person. She was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Wesley E. Bridgman, Jr..; her parents, Henry Hawkins, Sr. and Grace A. Wicks Hawkins; siblings, William Lee Hawkins, Milton Bryant Hawkins, Anna Lucille Hawkins and Henry Hawkins, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Wesley Alan Bridgman, Sr. (Janet) and Mark Steven Bridgman (Paula); grandchildren, Wesley Alan Bridgman, Jr., Kenneth Mark Bridgman, Jessica Bridgman Sulc and Christopher Dale Bridgman, as well as five great-grandchildren. There will be no formal visitation, but friends are invited to visit Ms. Bridgman at their convenience anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at
