Barbara Anne Britt, 58, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 15, 1949, in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Henry O. Goodrich and Alice Emory Goodrich. Mrs. Britt was a homemaker and devoted and faithful member of the Burtonâ??s Grove Christian Church and the Ladiesâ?? Aide Society.
Mrs. Britt is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Britt, of Wakefield, and Cherylâ??s father, John Britt; two sisters, Jeannette G. Newbold and husband, Hilton, and Linda G. Joyce and husband, James, all of Waverly; a brother, Charles H. Goodrich of Panama City, FL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and a special family friend, Gracie Goodrich. The family would like to send special thanks to the staffs of MCV and Sentara Obici Hospitals.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 23, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., in the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Dan Wickert officiating. Interment will follow in Burtonâ??s Grove Christian Church Cemetery, Wakefield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to offset expenses.
