Barbara, Coleman

Barbara Maddy Coleman, 70, of Hopewell, died Thursday, August 19, 2004 in Medical College of Virginia Hospital. She was born in Decatur, Illinois and had been a resident of this area since 1946. She was a retired School Crossing Guard for the City of Hopewell and a member of the Opti-Mrs. Club of Hopewell. Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her parents, Frank LeeRoy and Alice Williams Maddy. Surviving are her husband, James Rudolph Coleman, two daughters, Tonda C. Huddleston, and Louanna C. James all of Hopewell, a son, Romal C. Coleman of Roxboro, N.C., seven grandchildren, two great - grandchildren, a sister, Bonnie S. Griffith of Hopewell, two brothers, Jerry L. Maddy of Chester, John M. “Butch” Maddy of Colonial Heights, many nieces and nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3 – 5 P.M. in the Hopewell chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 23, 2004 at 2 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Walsh, pastor, officiating.
