Barbara Ann Harvanek

Barbara Slaughter Harvanek, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Monday, August 29, 2022. She was at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Barbara, age 89, was born in Petersburg, VA, to the late Preston Booth and Gertrude Helen Slaughter. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Preston B. Slaughter, Jr.
Barbara was the devoted wife of the late Jules V. Harvanek. Married in 1954, they resided in Petersburg, then Prince George, VA. Together they owned and operated Produce Center Supermarket and Produce Center Rentals.
Barbara is survived by her children, Leslie H. Beasley (Vaughn) of St. Johns, FL, and Scotty L. Harvanek (Kim) of Petersburg, VA. She is also survived by her cherished grandsons, Jacob L. Harvanek and Preston W. Harvanek of Petersburg.
Other surviving family members include her sister, Linda S. Hall of Chesapeake, VA; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends, and loving caretakers, especially Trina Bishop.
Visitation will be held at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 103 S. Adams St., Petersburg, VA, from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.
