Barbara Houchins Hatch

Barbara Houchins Hatch, 68, of Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger William and Frances Elizabeth Bendall Houchins, Sr.; husband of 34 years, Wayne Garrison Hatch, Sr.; brother, Roger Houchins, Jr.; mother and father-in-law, Claude and Virginia Hatch; and granddaughter, Camryn Makenna Hatch. Barbara was a member of Monumental Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed being involved in church activities. Barbara also enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking and traveling. She is survived by 2 daughters, Wendy Hatch Goodman and husband, Gary and Wynne Georgianna Hatch Smathers and husband, Matt; 3 sons, Wayne Garrison Hatch, Jr., William Gary Hatch and wife, Lisa, and Wallace Hatch and wife, Natalie; 2 sisters, June Shannon, and Kay Hagaman, 1 brother, David Houchins, Sr.; 10 grandchildren, Wayne “Tripp” Hatch, III, Forrest Hatch, Hunter Hatch, Gunnar Goodman, Gage Goodman, Caroline Goodman, Delaney Hatch, Makenna Hatch, Alexandria Hatch, and Arden Smathers; and 2 great-grandchildren, Emmett Garrison Hatch and Logan Kramer. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held at Monumental Baptist Church, 2925 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805, on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery.
