Barbara Wallace Jeffries, 81, died peacefully at home on April 2, 2024, from complications due to cancer.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Wallace. She is survived by two brothers, David Wallace (Christine), of Atlanta and Robert Wallace, of Houston; husband of 59 years, Bill Jeffries; son, Matthew Jeffries (Christina); daughters, Catherine Showalter (Hugh), of Richmond and Susanna Kenerson (Jared), of Palm City, Florida; six grandchildren, Henry and Patrick Jeffries, Turner and Wallace Showalter, and Everett and Wesley Kenerson; sister-in-law, Ann Critchfield (Steve); brother-in-law, Randy Snyder (Helen); sister-in-law, Ginny Sellers (Bill); and by four cousins, three nieces, and six nephews.
Barbara graduated from William & Mary in 1964, and attained a master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1987. She taught Special Education in Chesterfield County and later worked for Chesterfield County as a librarian at the Bon Air Library for 25 years. She was always supportive of her children's activities, serving as Secretary of the Bon Air Elementary School PTA, organizing and leading a Girl Scout Troop at Bon Air Presbyterian Church, volunteering for Huguenot Little League baseball and softball teams and for swim teams of the Bon Air Community Association.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 2040 McRae Road in Bon Air. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following schools: Benedictine College Preparatory School, St. Michael's Episcopal School, Trinity Episcopal School, or Riverside School.
