Barbara Jo Kvasnicka Pollard went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on November 2, 2018 at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her father, George M. Kvasnicka, Sr., her mother, Doris M. Kvasnicka, and her brother, George M. Kvasnicka, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 53 years, David Wayne Pollard, Sr., her daughter, Catherine Pollard Cleveland (Forrest), her son, David Wayne Pollard, Jr. (Quinn), her grandson Hayden Jacob Cleveland, her granddaughters, Madison Jordan Cleveland, Blakely Claire Pollard, and Blair Caroline Pollard, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Born in Petersburg, Virginia on June 11, 1943, Barbara graduated from Petersburg High School in 1961. She went on to graduate from the Stuart Circle Hospital School for Nurses in Richmond, Virginia. Her diverse 40 year career as a registered nurse included construction nursing with Stone & Webster as well as the post-partum unit of Southside Regional Medical Center, but was perhaps most impactful while spending it with her Prince George County school family for twenty years, retiring in 2004. She was a life-long member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Petersburg, Virginia where she served in many roles throughout the years. Barbara enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, cooking, playing bridge with her long-time friends, attending class reunions, and hosting countless family and church gatherings. Affectionately known as “Grangy”, she was happiest when she knew she was helping someone in need. Surrounded by her family and her preacher, she departed this life with the same grace with which she lived it. Always putting others before herself, hers is an everlasting legacy of devotion to her Lord, Jesus Christ, to her family and friends, and of love. The family would like to acknowledge the special care Barbara received from Southside Regional Medical Center, River View on the Appomattox Health and Rehab Center, John Randolph Medical Center, and Johnston-Willis Hospital. Barbara was blessed to have friends too numerous to mention individually, but please know that your love and support is most appreciated. We would like to thank her dear friend and neighbor Janice Crutchfield for her steadfast friendship and support as well as her preacher, Dr. Patricia S. Geerdes for making even stronger the Christian foundation upon which Barbara’s life was built. Visitation will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son in Petersburg on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Petersburg on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Blandford Cemetery. Please join the family in the church parish hall immediately following interment for a celebration of Barbara’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint John’s Episcopal Church, 842 West Washington Street, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Condolences may be registered at
