Barbara Knowles

Barbara Bray Knowles, 70, of Stony Creek, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Pearl Young Bray. She was a 1960 graduate of Longwood College. Barbara was a dedicated educator who touched many lives during her career. She will be remembered by many as â??My favorite teacherâ?. Barbara taught Life Sciences and Biology in the Tri-City area for 45 years prior to retiring, she was Past President of United Daughters of the Confederacy, member of Waverly Womenâ??s Club, Ladiesâ?? Memorial Association. She is survived by her husband, Malcolm O. Knowles, Sr. of Stony Creek; two sons, Chad Knowles and wife, Melanie of Chester and Malcolm O. Knowles, Jr. of Colonial Heights; sister, Judith Bowman of Chester. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Sunday. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park.
