Barbara A. Story, 74, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011. She is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley E. and Mary Lee Hargrave; and her husband of fifty-five years, James Kilby â??Docâ? Story. She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Merritt and her husband Tom of Hopewell, Wanda Dulaney and her husband Bob of Chester, and Tammy Hobeck and her husband Gene of Prince George; five grandchildren, Brandon Hobeck and his wife Dawn, Andrew Hobeck and his wife Krystal, Travis Merritt, Kim Dulaney, and Christy Dulaney; and four great grandchildren, Tanner Hobeck, Braylen Hobeck, Desiree Arce, and Jax Hobeck; one brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Becky Hargrave of Blackstone; sister-in-law, June K. Horne of Sutherland; brother-in-law and his wife, Benny and Cindy Coleman of Prince George; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara loved to crochet. She also loved to play bingo with her loving husband at the Hopewell Moose Lodge #1472, where she was a member of the WOTM 1180 until her health began to decline. In her declining final months with us, she was cared for by her three daughters and the staff at the Hopewell Health Care Convalescent Center. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Nave officiating. Interment will follow the service at Bermuda Memorial Park in Chester. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
