Beatrice Thayer

Mrs. Beatrice B. Thayer, 92, of Ferndale Road, Petersburg, Virginia departed this life on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center. A caring and devoted wife and mother of five, she was born in McKenney on October 12, 1917 to the late John Otis Bishop, Sr. and Florence Estelle Riddle Bishop. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon D. Tarleton; sister, Bertha Pugh and brothers, John Bishop, Jr., Robert Bishop, Earl Bishop, and Clyde M. Bishop. She leaves behind her husband of 70 years, Leslie E. Thayer, Sr.; sons, Leslie E. Thayer, Jr. (Judith), and Charles O. Thayer; daughters, Linda G. Carey (Ronald), and Shirley M. Adams (Tommy); son-in-law, Harvey Tarleton; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister, Louise Woolridge and sisters-in-law, Mary Bishop and Shirley Bishop. The family will receive family and friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 7 to 8:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev Jon Dundalow officiating. Entombment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
