Benjamin "Benji" Harvey Holt

Benji Holt, 71, passed from this Earth on December 19, 2017. He attended Hopewell public schools, Southwood Junior College, and Elon College, majoring in physical education. As a young man, Benji was appointed Athletic Director for the City of Hopewell and briefly served there in his first job. Later, he chose to pursue his lifelong love and natural talent in music, playing keyboards and serving as manager for a number of bands playing throughout Virginia. In later years, he joined the ranks of Jordan Kitt Music as outside promotion manager for keyboard sales, earning distinction and many awards as top salesman for the Atlantic Region. Benji also worked successfully in sales with Yamaha Pianos in the same position. Benji is survived by his sister, Vicky Holt Abramson of Valencia, CA, his ex-wife, Judy Holland Holt, and daughter, Jenny Holt, both of LaGrange, NC. A graveside service is to be held at Hopewell’s Appomattox Cemetery, February 3, 2018, at 2 pm, with Rev. Bob Lane officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to First Christian Church in Hopewell, the Salvation Army, or a favorite charity.
