Benjamin Thorogood Kinsey of Petersburg died Tuesday, March 16, 2004. He was married for 55 years to the late Nancy Alden Strong Kinsey. He was the son of Benjamin Thomas and Kitty Mitchell Kinsey and brother of the late Samuel Phillips Mitchell Kinsey and the late Martha Kinsey Marable. Mr. Kinsey was a lifelong resident of Petersburg. A graduate of The University of Virginia Law School, he was an active member of the congregation and former member of the Vestry and Treasurer of Christ and Grace Church. He was a past President of The Country Club of Petersburg. He served in World War II as a Captain in the Army of the United States, XII Corps, Counter Intelligence Corps. After a law career with Bohannan, Bohannan & Kinsey and then Bohannan, Kinsey & Marable, he was President of Titmus Optical Company. At the time of his death, Mr. Kinsey was the Corporate Secretary of First Federal Bank of Virginia. He is survived by his three daughters, Anne Kinsey Dinan, Kitty Kinsey Gwaltney and Susan Kinsey Robinson; and six grandchildren, Kinsey Alden Dinan, Ashley Macdonnald Dinan, Gregory Philip Gwaltney, James Benjamin Gwaltney, Kristin Leigh Robinson and Michael Aaron Robinson. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2004 at 11:00 am at Blandford Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
