Benjamin North Mason, Jr., 78, of Cobblestone Drive, Hopewell, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Carteret County, NC, but had spent most of his life in Hopewell. Mr. Mason was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Hopewell Lions Club of which he is past president and currently serving as secretary, was District Cabinet Secretary in 1981-1982, a member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, and retired Production Control Coordinator for Allied Signal Corporation. He was the son of the late Benjamin North and Rennie Shackleford Mason and the widower of Allene Barco Mason. Mr. Mason is survived by a daughter, Lynne Mason Mohorn and her husband Ken of Chester, 2 grandchildren, Julie L. Rivers and her husband Kenny of Chesterfield, A. Brooke Mohorn of Chester, 2 great grandchildren, Lindsay Rivers and Austin Rivers, both of Chesterfield, one brother James L. Mason and his wife Carol of Richmond, brother-in-law, Durwood Barco and his wife Chris of Martinsville, VA and a niece, Donna Barco of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday, Mary 13, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 14, 2004 at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Edward Bellis, IV, of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 1201 Blackstone Avenue, Hopewell, VA 23860.
