Benjamin Carleton â??Peteâ? Wells, 69, of Sutherland, passed away Thursday, May 04, 2006. Born in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Annie Vaughan Wells. He was a lifelong member of Ocran United Methodist Church, a retired machinist, working for many years at the E. E. Titus Machine Shop in Petersburg and was well known in the area for the restoration of antique cars. Mr. Wells is survived by his daughters, Denise W. Reynolds and husband, Michael, Sarah E. Wells, Anna C. Eley and Ellen Eley; grandchildren, Zachary A. Rakes, Emily C. Reynolds, Jonathan M. Reynolds, Jessi C. Eagle and EM3 Jacob C. Doughty, U. S. N.; sister, Doris W. Elmore; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Sunday, May 7, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at Ocran United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gene C. Tatum, Pastor and the Rev. Harry Byrd Jones, Pastor Emeritus officiating.
