Benny Michael Chism

Benny Michael Chism Maj. USA Ret., age 77 of Prince George passed away unexpectedly on Thursday January 7, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Clayton Chism, mother, Loneize Scott Chism Gardner, and his Brother, Jimmy Clyde Chism. He retired from active duty after 24 years of service in the United States Army and 15 years of Civil Service. He loved his family, golf, walking, anything he could do outside and Alabama Football. He enjoyed Sunday Service, Bible Study group and Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Hopewell for many years. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shirley Chism; daughter, Melinda Chism Strong (Jeff); son Michael Scott Chism (Laura); stepsons, Eddie Stanford, Gary Stanford (Deneen) and Michael Stanford (Pam); grandchildren, Ben and Ruth Chism, Tera Jordan, Ashley and Cody Stanford; his brother, Glen Allan Chism; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Saturday January 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church 401 North 2nd Avenue Hopewell, VA, 23860. The family will receive friends, from 11am to 12pm on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers; please donate to the First Baptist Church of Hopewell, or the charity of your choice in his honor.
