Bernard Jackson Hawkins

Bernard Jackson “Jackie” Hawkins, 85, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017. He was the son of the late Turner Jackson Hawkins and Minnie Lashley Barnes Hawkins. Jackie was also preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Schub Hawkins. He was a lifelong farmer and member of Old Hickory Hunt Club. In his spare time he loved to garden and enjoyed taking trips to Kitty Hawk, NC, fishing and visiting friends. Jackie is survived by his children, Dale Hawkins (Mary Ann), Brenda Burkholder (Vince Bartley), Richard “Dickie” Hawkins (Vickie), and Teresa Stillion (John); grandchildren, Matthew Hawkins (Danielle), Patricia Ankiel, James Hawkins (Megan), Steven Carwile (Dolly), Zachary Carwile (Justin Gordon), Courtney Haswell (John), Ellen Hodges (Colton), and Gerald Ott; several great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Patricia Flad. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Hawkins Family Cemetery, 20002 Courthouse Rd., Dinwiddie, VA 23841.
