Bernard Elmo Oliver, Jr., 91, of North Dinwiddie, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 25, 2021. Born September 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Bernard Elmo Oliver Sr. and Ida D'Andrea Oliver and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jo Carol Oliver and sister, Anna Lee Fenderson.
Bernard was an Army Veteran and retired after many years as a correctional supervisor from the Federal Correctional Institution in Prince George, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Ruzicka Oliver; three daughters, Sharon O. Robinette of North Dinwiddie, Stacy O. Kelley (Mike) of Amelia Courthouse, and Stephanie O. Poole (Gary) of North Dinwiddie; five grandchildren, Misty Wright (Steven), Shannon Fuller (Derrick), Ryan Poole, Matthew Kelley and Jenna Poole Jones; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Wright, Kaylee and Landon Jones, and Madison Fuller; and sisters, Joan Creech and Marie Smith.
The family will receive family & friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on November 1, 2021 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or to the Children’s Hospital in Richmond (VCU).
