Bernice Love Dishman, 85, passed away July 20, 2012 at her home in Virginia Beach. She was the daughter of the late Luther O. and Josephine Dishman. She is a member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church.
Ms. Dishman is survived by a sister, Joy Michal, of Colonial Heights, Va. and by nephews Robert Johnson and wife Bonnie, David Johnson, Luther Dishman and wife Cynthia, Col. Wilbur Dishman, Ret. and wife Judith, and Ralph Jones and wife Peggy. She was predeceased by a niece, Lona Dishman Jones and two brothers, Wilbur S. Dishman and Willie Cloyd Dishman.
Great nieces and nephews include Sean Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Ashleigh Johnson Parker, Bianca Dishman Miller, Lindsey Dishman, Cloyd Christian Dishman, Chad Dishman, Kimberly Jones McDaniel and Darla Jones Cravey.
Great, great nieces and nephews include Ryan Johnson, Caelyn and Urijah Miller; Harrison, Austin, Riley, Quentin, Kayla and Hannah Dishman.
Ms. Dishman taught in the Norfolk School System for 38 Years and was a long-time Virginia Beach resident where she attracted a large extended family of friends. She will be lovingly remembered for many things, including her love of dogs and always being happy.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, July 24 at the J.T. Morris Funeral Chapel, 103 S. Adams Street, Petersburg, Va. followed by a funeral procession and interment at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg at 11:30 AM. The Rev. Mike Osborne officiating.
