Bernice Bowers Elliott, 91, went to be with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on June 9, 2005, following a long battle with Alzheimers. Mrs. Elliott was born in Richmond, Va. and was a former resident of Day St., Hopewell. She was a staff aide with American Red Cross, a volunteer with RSVP, the Department of Social Services and Health Department, and Juvenile Court and Service Unit. She was a charter member of Liberty Baptist Church and a member of Business and Professional Women?s Club. Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan E. and Bessie Warden Bowers and the widow of Clarence Cuthbert Elliott, Sr. Surviving are her daughter, Roberta E. Shaw and husband, Douglas of Richmond, a son, Clarence C. Elliott, Jr. and his wife, Bertha Lee of Chesterfield, her grandchildren, Beverly Andres Cardwell, Kristopher G. Andres, Kevin B. Andres, Keith A. Andres, Joseph H. Elliott, David B. Elliott, Lee E. Atkins, Douglas E. Shaw, Jr., Crystal G. Kelley and Brandy S. McGuinn and 13 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 10A.M. in Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell.
