Bertha Auten

Bertha Gay Auten 84, of Hopewell passed away March 28, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Creed and Lydia Compton and was predeceased by two husbands, Raymond Kennedy and Rev. William Thomas Auten, a sister Ethel Hess, three brothers, Norman Compton, Henry Compton, Carl Compton, and a nephew Edward Mitchell. She is survived by her sister Susie Mitchell, three nephews, Terry Mitchell, Douglas Mitchell, all of Hopewell , Lawrence Mitchell and wife Jennifer of Richmond, a niece Louise Hess Breeding and husband Glen of Lebanon, Va., and a step sister Agness Hess Jessee of Lebanon. The family will receive friends Tuesday March 30, 2004 7-8:30 PM at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at the South Hopewell Church of God Wednesday March 31, 2004 at 1 PM with the Rev. Walter Simms officiating, interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park.
