Bertha Prosise

Bertha Wells Prosise of Sutherland, wife of Cameron Foster Prosise, passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 at her residence. Born in Dinwiddie County, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. Wells and Louise Barnes Jackson. Mrs. Prosise was a retired operator for AT&T and a member of Ocran United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Clifton Wells. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Alan Keith Prosise; her twin sister, Mabel Wells Maitland of Church Road; her sister Addie Wells Starke of Hopewell; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, at Ocran United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gene C. Tatum, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ocran UMC (Building Fund), 20807 Cox Road, Sutherland, VA 23885. The Prosise family is being served by the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg.
