Bessie Kei Smith

Smith, Bessie Kei, 97, of Hopewell, VA., passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Hope in Richmond on January 7, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roland Smith; parents, Vendel and Bessie Kei, brothers, Vendel Jr., Steve, Joe, Johnny, Paul, Sandy and Charlie Kei; sisters, Elizabeth Suess, Sue Tucker, Mary Riegel and Julia Sprouse. She is survived by her daughter, Karen S. Hegedus (Chuck); sister, Ann Newsome, sisters-in-law, Audrey Kei and Kitty Kei, and many loving nieces and nephews. She retired from Allied Chemical/Honeywell and was a lifetime member of St. James Catholic Church. A mass of christian burial will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church, 510 W. Poythress St. Hopewell, VA. Entombment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Our Lady of Hope for their loving care.
