Bettie Finch Jacobs, passed away quietly, on November 11, 2023, at the age of 91. She is the daughter of the late James Thomas and Lillie Mae Debham Finch, of Louisburg, North Carolina.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Winston Jacobs, Sr.; and ten brothers, James T., Theodore, Billy, Walter, Willard, Russell, Bobby, Jack, Stacy, and Daniel Finch; three sisters, Doris Mae Hodges, Brenda Matthews, and Daphine Finch.
Bettie was a member of Broadway Baptist Church; she enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, crocheting, and cooking for her church events. Bettie will be remembered as a devoted, loving sister, mother, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to all. She had a deep love for the military that ran deep in her family, from her father, a silver star recipient, to brothers who served in the green berets and special forces, along with nephews and nieces who have served or are serving in the armed forces.
Bettie is survived by her brother, Bunnie C. Finch, of Wake Forest, North Carolina; sister, Patricia Finch Bracknell (James), of Franklinton, North Carolina; her son, Harry W. Jacobs, Jr., of Chesapeake, Virginia; and daughter, Barbara Jean Jacobs, of Hopewell, Virginia; along with 38 nephews and nieces of the Finch family; 30 nephews and nieces of the Jacobs family; multitudes of great-nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 10 am - 11 am, on Wednesday, November 15. 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway Avenue, Hopewell, Virginia 23860, followed by a service at 11 am. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery, in Hopewell. Family and friends will convene at Rosa's Restaurant, 4098 Oaklawn Boulevard, Hopewell, Virginia from 1 pm - 4 pm.
