Betty J. Cavalier, 73, of Hopewell, died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. She was born in Prescott, AZ, and was daughter of the late William and Bertha Stripland McMurren and served as a retired Activities Director for John Randolph Nursing Home. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Hopewell and also attended the Church of Christ, Colonial Heights.
She is survived by her husband, Clark P. Cavalier; a daughter Mara-Lynn Grigg and husband, Brian, of Chester; a son Bill A. Cavalier and wife, Kim, of Chester; Granddaughter Jennifer Barbee of Chester; grandsons Christopher and Andrew Cavalier of Chester; a sister Margaret Ann Gladson of California; four nieces Julie Shipley and husband, Red, of Arizona and Jan Ferguson and husband, Alex, of Arizona, Deidre McMurren and Linda McMurren both of Arizona; two nephews Eddie McMurren and David McMurren both of Arizona; sisters-in- law Mary Hasel and husband, Dick, of Arizona and Betty Cheatham and husband, Wayne of Arizona; and many great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 5, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 6, 2007, at 3 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 4th and Cawson Streets, Hopewell. with The Rev. Mark Daly, Pastor of Church of Christ, Colonial Heights, and The Rev. Mural Worthy, Pastor of the Church of Christ, Hopewell, officiating. Interment will be private.
