Betty Jones Cofer, 66, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Suffolk, VA. Born March 29, 1940 Suffolk, Va., she was the daughter of the late Sam Linwood Jones, Sr. and Martha Stringfield Jones. Betty was a homemaker and was a resident of Surry County for a number of years. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Gene Cofer, and a daughter, Deborah Lynn Cofer.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Garnett and fiancé, Lee Beasley, of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Jedadiah Garnett and Heather Stroud; four sisters, Sally Brandt, Martha Ruth Wells, Mary Byrum, and Jean Stephenson; one brother, James W. Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Pearl Raiford, Elizabeth Gray, and Alice Adams; and one brother, Sam Jones, Jr.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery, Wakefield, with the Rev. Jim Jones officiating. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be posted at www.jtmorriss.com .
