Betty Jo Henshaw

February 16, 1942 — April 2, 2014

Betty Jo Henshaw, 72, of Sutherland, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Born in Craig County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Lillie Mae Beckner Huffman. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Ford Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, David L. Henshaw, Sr.; children, JoAnn Johnson and husband, Jesse, David “Butch” Henshaw, Jr., Laura Avery and husband, Mike, and Gregory Brian Henshaw and wife, Ashley; grandchildren, Melissa Johnson, Jessica “Nikki” Johnson, Forrest Avery, Tiffany Henshaw and Madilyn Jo Henshaw. She is also survived by two brothers, Tony Lee Huffman and wife, Sharon, and Roy M. Huffman and wife, Lynn; a sister, Linda Myers and husband, Paul; lifelong friend, Joan Harrison, numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7th at Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastors Jonathan Dundalow and Steven Gupton officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.Sunday also at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
