Betty Lee Martinson, 89, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at John Randolph Medical Center. She was born September 25, 1925, in Wenatchee, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Florence (Badger) Phipps, the love of her life husband Paul R. Martinson, daughter, Pamela McDaniel, and granddaughter Michelle Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter Sherry (Frank Bell) Martinson, sons, Mike (Linda) and Donald (Lisa) Martinson; grandchildren Theresa Bracewell (Jeff), Paul Bell, Michael Martinson, Tanya McDaniel, Natalie (Todd) Merritt; and great-grandchildren Jeffery (Kumiko) and Sarah Bracewell, Ryan Bell, Trenton Martinson, Owen Wilson, and Benjamin, Samuel, and Jacob Merritt. She is also survived by her “adopted” son Hasan Wahdan. She was the most loving, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved fiercely and deeply. She was a great baker and seamstress. Family mattered most to her and she will be deeply missed, but heaven has gained another Angel.
We would like to extend a special thank you to those staff at Hopewell Health Care who lovingly provided her care and loved her “above and beyond” what was required.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hopewell Health Care, 905 Cousins Avenue, Hopewell, VA 23860 or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at
