Beverly Lee “Bet” Fisher, 67, of Ford, VA passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Petersburg, VA he was the son of the late Alva Sydnor Sr., and Sally Frances Powell Fisher; and was also preceded in death by his brother, Alva S. Fisher, Jr; and former father-in-law, Thomas Waverly “Buck” Lewis. He was the owner and operator of Phil Jones Auto Parts for 20 years following his father’s passing. Bet was a member of the Virginia Automotive Wholesalers Association. He was a longtime member of the Sutherland Ruritan Club and a recipient of the Tom Downing Fellow Award. Bet also served as a member of the Petersburg/Dinwiddie Crimesolvers. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the reserves from 1966 to 1972. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer M. Fisher of Ford; two sons, L. Todd Fisher and wife, Amy of Sutherland, Jason Fisher and wife, Jennifer of Ford; a grandson, Aiden Fisher; one sister, Debbie F. Cook and husband, Wayne of Church Road; his children’s mother, Alice Carol Fisher of Atlantic Beach, N.C.; Margaret M. Lewis, affectionately known as Grandma, of Ford; two nieces, Wendy Cook and Shannon Wohler; and nephew, Alva “Trey” Fisher III. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20 2014 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, 6616 Boydton Plank Rd., N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. Interment will be private. The family would like to express their appreciation for all of the prayers and thoughts sent their way during this endeavor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
