William â??Billâ? Blanchard, 89, of Hopewell, passed away Friday November 24, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Kyle A. and Isabel Harrison Blanchard and was preceded in death by a sister Harriet Lowder and a granddaughter Lindsey Blanchard. He was a retired postal worker with the United States Post Office and was a member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, and also served as a deacon at the church for many years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years Maryland H. Blanchard, a son Mickey Blanchard & wife Susan of Hopewell, a granddaughter Lauren B. Messner & husband, Morgan of Prince George, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his niece Jean Ellis of North Carolina for all of her support and caring during his time of illness. The family would also like to Thank Hospice for all of their service rendered during Billâ??s illness. The family received friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home Sunday November 26 from 6:00-8:00 PM. A funeral services was conducted Monday November 27, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Miles, Rev. George Chaplin, and Rev Luke Falwell officiating. Interment was in Appomattox Cemetery.
