Billy Wayne Horne Sr., 48, of Hopewell went home to be with Jesus on Thursday May 5, 2011, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL.

He was born October 9, 1962 in Roanoke Rapids, NC and has been a life long resident of Hopewell, VA.

A graduate of Hopewell High School in 1981, Billy was quarterback for the Blue Devils. After high school he began his employment for Allied Signal/Honeywell International. During his 27 year career he held many positions; Trainer, Chief Operator of Kellogg, and President of United Steelworkers Local 12103. Billy's passion for hunting and raising hunting dogs led him to become President of Savedge Hunt Club in Surry, VA. He carried that same passion for the Lord and was a dedicated member of his Church. Most of all Big Billy was a devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette Horne of 33 years, his son Billy Jr. and wife Lindsey, two daughters; Cassie Shelburne, husband Eddie and expecting granddaughter Sloane, Catie and fiancé Sean Ellis and daughter Caitlyn. Also survived by his mother Gwendolyn Allen & Forest Allen, his sisters, Doris & Lee Damron, Barbara & Ricky McClaskie, Amy & Scott Arnett, mother in law Hazel Jordan, father in law Larry & Kathy Hall, sister in law Zina & Billy Kendrick, brother in law Keith & Rhonda Hall, brother in law Craig & Theresa Eastep and many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Herman Horne Jr., brother Roscoe Herman Horne III and stepfather Robert R. Pence Sr.

The family will receive friends from 4 pm - 8 pm on Tuesday May 10, 2011 at the J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home Hopewell Chapel. A memorial service will be held at Calvary's Love Ministries at 10 am on Wednesday May 11, 2011. Interment will be held at Appomattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Billy's church, Calvary's Love Ministries to support community outreach programs; 118 S. 11th Avenue, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
