Binford L. Collins, 74, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 in Southside Regional Medical Center after a long illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Prince George. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts retiring from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service as a Senior Chief Storekeeper in 1969. From 1969 until 1990, he was a pipe fitter with Hercules, Inc. retiring after 21 years of service. Mr. Collins was a member of VFW Post 637. He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton P. and Myrtle M. Collins; and four brothers, Earl P. Collins, Raymond T. Collins, Sr., Fred W. Collins and Glenn T. Collins. He is survived by his wife, Annette W. Collins; four children, David L. Collins and Cathy A. Collins both of Chester, William N. Collins and wife Tabitha L. Collins of Virginia Beach, VA and Michael S. Collins of Prince George; three grandchildren, Annette V. Anifantis of Chesterfield, Jennifer L. Anifantis of Chester and Bradley L. Collins of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Melva C. Welch of Prince George, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 PM. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel with Troy Kaichen officiating. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery with military honors. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Prince George Volunteer Emergency Crew for their professional, dedicated service.
