Bobby Glenn Knight, 80, of Prince George, VA, died on July 1, 2024. He was born to the late Glenn and Mary Knight. He is also preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey R. Knight. He graduated from Prince George High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970, with deployments in many places, including Germany. He came back home and served his community by joining the Chesterfield Fire Department in 1979. There he quickly found a new family and trained them to serve with dignity and honor. He would retire as a Lieutenant in 2002. He loved the great outdoors, spending his free time fishing, hunting, and doing float trips. He loved to maintain his yard and garden, travel to the beach, or hunker down in his workshop with some wood. Despite his busy life, he always had time for his family. He is fondly remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and adoring "Popz" to his grandson, Preston. He was a strong willed, hard working man, that never gave up. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol D. Knight; his daughter, Tamara Knight and her significant other, Russell Edwards, of Powhatan; his grandson, Preston T. Harris, of North Carolina; and his brothers, Mike and Kenneth Knight, of Mississippi. A service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, at 11 A.M. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, and the interment is to follow, at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in the memory of Lt. Bobby "Pop" Knight be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation and Chesterfield Professional Firefighters Charitable Foundations, P.O. Box 812, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
