Bonnie Griffith

Bonnie Sue Griffith, 79, of Hopewell, Virginia, passed away in the early hours of April 11, 2024, at Southside Regional Hospital. She was born in Radford, Virginia to the late Frank Leeroy and Alice Christine Maddy. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Coleman; and her brother, John "Butch" Maddy.
Affectionately called "Sue" by her family and friends, she received her schooling in the Hopewell City Public Schools system. After starting a family, she resided in North Carolina for many years. Germany and Newport News were also her home after her marriage to Michael, with the family eventually making their way back to Hopewell. Sue enjoyed working outside in her yard and adored her canine companions, Tony and BooBoo. She is survived by her husband, Michael Griffith; sons, Robert "Todd" Shepherd (Carol) and Frank "Lee" Shepherd (Erin); daughter, Tina Lynn Kensy (Daniel); grandchildren, Jenna D'Attilio (Jason), Ridge Shepherd, Tristan Shepherd, Brayden Silvestro, Barrett Sweger, and Brandon Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Westley and Orion D'Attilio; brother, Jerry Maddy; and multiple nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss Funeral Home, followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors the evening before the service on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
