Bonnie Myers Zeiters passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at her home in Chester, Virginia. She was born April 14, 1953 in Martinsville, Virginia and grew up in Draper, North Carolina. She graduated from Wake Forest University in 1975 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. Her teaching career lasted 30 years over two states and included Primary Reading, Spanish, and ESL (English as a Second Language). She also tutored many elementary and high-school students after her regular work day was over. She retired in 2014 from Chesterfield County to enjoy gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She could usually be found rooting for the Duke Blue Devils, the Demon Deacons or sharing in the roller coaster ride of rooting for any Cleveland team along with her husband, Dennis. She supported her two daughters and husband in every activity, attending hundreds of football, soccer, and field hockey games, and sharing a smile with everyone she met. She was a chocolate lover and a romantic, a devoted “Gammy,” and a competitive vacation tennis player. When Bonnie was re-diagnosed with uterine cancer last year, she provided comfort by donating colorful hats to the other patients at Dr. West’s office in Johnston-Willis Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughter Jamie and her husband Drew and their daughters Lasley and Gianna; daughter Kayla and her husband Jacob and their son Brooks; mother Sue; and sister Jackie (Peggy Ross). She is predeceased by her father Charles “Shag” Myers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 30th at 1pm at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Chester, VA with a visitation to follow.
