Bonny Shiflett Greenbaum

May 1, 1949 — August 21, 2018

Bonny Shiflett Greenbaum, 69, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018. She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, May 1, 1949 to the late Ollie Perry Shiflett and Elsie Mae Shiflett. A devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, or GiGi as her grandsons called her, she always put other’s interests before her own, even up to the very end of her long and courageous battle with cancer. Bonny is survived by her husband of 45 years, Benjamin Lewis Greenbaum; her sons, Josh and Noah and his wife, Meredith; and her grandsons, Perry and Ollie. She is also survived by a brother, Francis Shiflett and his wife, Mae; a sister-in-law, Cissie Greenbaum Quinn and her husband, Mike; nieces, Megan Albert and her husband, Sam, Erin Bodine and her husband, Fran, Cindy Lee and her husband, Roger, and Kathy Watson; nephews, Jody Shiflett and Jamie Shiflett; and cousin, Bill Crane. In addition to her parents, Bonny was preceded in death by her brother Randolph Shiflett and his wife, Lorraine.
Bonny graduated from Southern Seminary and Virginia Commonwealth University and spent much of her life as a public school teacher all around Central Virginia, including Richmond, Amelia, and Henrico. She was a member of Cancer Dancer and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, an associate member of the Raleigh Parish Garden Club, and a volunteer at the Colonial Heights Food Pantry. Bonny loved to cook, garden, travel, play bridge, visit museums, read, collect antiques, and follow Virginia football. Most of all, she loved to nurture and enjoy her family. The family wishes to thank her loving friends for their help during this most difficult time.
Interment will be private at Hollywood Cemetery. The family wishes to invite friends to celebrate her life at a service and reception at Congregation Or Ami, 9400 Huguenot Road, Richmond, Virginia, Wednesday afternoon, August 29, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
