Borgny “Barney” Skalleberg Hampton, 88, of Prince George, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was a lifelong member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir for over 50 years. Mrs. Hampton was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi International. She volunteered at John Randolph Medical Center as an auxiliary member for over 25 years. Mrs. Hampton was an avid bridge player and prolific reader. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Hampton is preceded in death by her husband, Charles V. Hampton Jr.; her parents, Ole and Hedvig Lund Skalleberg; and brother, Arne Skalleberg and his wife, Edith. She is survived by her son, Charles V. “Van” Hampton III, and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Burdette and her husband, Glenn; grandchildren, Michelle H. Blankenship and her husband, Michael, Dawn B. Stewart and her husband, John, Emily H. Nowell and her husband, Joshua, and Rodney E. Burdette and his wife, Laura; great-grandchildren, Taylor Leis, McKenna Stewart, Zachary Stewart, Jackson Nowell, Madison Burdette, Mary Caitlyn Burdette, and Owen Burdette; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the funeral home, with Pastor George Plavin, officiating; with a time of food and fellowship to follow. Interment will be private.
