Brenda Maye Hutson

Brenda Maye Hutson, 76, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was born in Petersburg on October 9, 1941 to the late William and Myrtle Warren. She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Hutson, Sr.; brother, Thomas Warren; son, Michael Hutson; and daughter, Katherine Blouin. Brenda and her husband, Thomas opened up their bait shop (Brenda’s Bait Shop) shortly after they were married May 13, 1955, 60 years ago. She was known as “Mama” by many of her customers who she enjoyed dearly. She enjoyed her flowers very much. Brenda was caring and her most important love was her family. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Hutson (Sharon) of Prince George, VA, and Kenneth Hutson (Angie) of Sumner, NE; very special “adopted” son, Michael Ellis. She is also survived by an oldest grandson, Christopher Hutson, who she helped raise; 8 additional grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; siblings, William Warren, Marsha Williams, Rose Lloyd, Patricia Langster and Barbara Goad. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the funeral home with her son, Pastor Ken Hutson, officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
