Brenda Kay Scudder

Brenda Kay Scudder, 62, of Colonial Heights, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 9, 2018 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Hopewell, VA she was the daughter of the late Frank T. and Catherine Hayes Ellis; and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erica Ruis. Mrs. Scudder was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, where she served on several different committees in the church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Scudder is survived by her husband, Bobby Scudder; daughter, Angela Ruis and husband, Johnnie; two sons, Jason Harrison and Cary Harrison and wife, Sara; seven grandchildren, Austin, Rachel, Bryant, Daniel, Brianna, Katie and Grace; a sister, Rita Sebera and husband, Donald; two brothers, Nathan Ellis and wife, Kathy and Morris Ellis and wife, Joann; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Brenda Scudder.
