Brenda Ruth Smith

Brenda Smith, dedicated wife of 56 years, died peacefully with her daughters by her side on October 10, 2021.

Brenda was born on January 3, 1948 in Kinston, NC and is survived by her husband, Ambrose
“Papa Brose” Ludwell Smith, Jr. Also surviving are her two daughters, Cheryl (Tony) Johnson and Kim (Mark) Hatchett, three grandsons Jacob Johnson, Christopher Johnson and Niklas Hatchett, and one sister Judy (Bill) Weese. Her mother, Emie Harper Heath and brother Walter Heath preceded her in death.

Brenda was a member of Enon Baptist Church (Chester, VA) and New Hope Baptist Church (Kinston, NC) where she shared her love and service to Jesus Christ. She enjoyed country music concerts (especially Conway Twitty). She loved Saturday night line dancing with Brose for many years. But what she lived for was spending time with her grandsons (what happens at g-ma’s, stays at g-ma’s). She also loved all our pups as if they were her own. Her heart was always giving.

There will be a Memorial Service to honor the life and unconditional love of Brenda at J.T. Morriss & Son in Chester, VA on Saturday, October 16th at 3 pm. Visitation will be prior to service at 2 pm. A service in Kinston, NC is being planned for a later date.
