Brenda Wood Sweat

Brenda Wood Sweat, 61, of Chesterfield passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late William R. Wood and Martha Wooten Wood. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Jeffrey Sweat; and son, William Robert Sweat.
Brenda was employed with Matoaca Middle School as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling to the mountains, and was known to be an excellent cook. Brenda especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a selfless person and always put others above herself. She displayed unconditional care and love for her husband in his final days before he passed in 2018. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her darling daughter, Tiffany D. Ashton and her husband, Timothy; wonderful grandchildren, Makayla Grace Ashton and Gunner James Ashton; sister, Inez Tyrcha; nephews, Robert Sweat III and his wife, Sara, Christopher Sweat and his wife, Diana, Dustin Arsenault, Jesse Arsenault and his wife, Natalie, and Jonathan Tyrcha; niece, Samantha Sweat; great-nephews and great-nieces, Tucker Sweat, Lettie Sweat, Conway Sweat, Surry Sweat, and John William Tyrcha.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 3512 Virginia St., Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at church. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
