Brenda Kay Vaughan, 61, of Petersburg, passed away on July 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Hester Kennedy and Christine Grissom and her sister, Karen Wilkins. Brenda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and she was very giving to others. She was a member of the Lafayette House, where she attended church and made numerous friends over the years. She loved Harley Davidson’s and lived life to the fullest. Brenda was a hard worker and worked up until she fell ill. Her favorite hangout spot was on Texas Avenue, where she was surrounded by her family and close friends. Brenda is survived by her children, Michelle Childress (Bruce), Kimberly Thorne, and Brittany Jarratt; grandchildren, Nicholas Thomas, Noah Childress, Brayden Bobbitt, Nathan Childress, and Honesti Horne; great-grandchildren, Jordan Thomas, Jaida Thomas, Jailyn Thomas, Julian Thomas, and Jewel Thomas; brother, Kenneth Kennedy (Judy); nieces, Jennifer Wilson and Ashleigh Wilkins; nephew, Brad Kennedy; close friends of many years, Tommy Shelton, Fannie Harris, and Debra Casey; and numerous close friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 4 from 6-8 PM at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home – Petersburg, 103 S. Adams Street.
