Brian Kent Haggard, 70, of Chester, VA passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Born in Manhattan, Kansas he was the son of the late Neal Eddins and Phyllis Armstrong Haggard; and was also preceded in death by a brother, John “Hap” Haggard. Brian was a 1969 graduate of the University of Arizona where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating, he was commissioned into the United States Army and retired as a Major after 20 years of honorable service. While in the Army, he flew CH-47 Chinooks and served in the Army Corps of Engineers. After retiring from the Army, he worked as the Facilities and Grounds Director for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. His last and greatest accomplishment was overseeing construction of the McGlothlin Wing expansion at the museum. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Mr. Haggard also served as the Director of Referees for the Chesterfield Youth Soccer Association. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mildred “Millie” P. Haggard; two sons, Brian Kent Haggard, Jr. and wife, Katie and Jason Pope Haggard; five grandchildren, Jaydon, Isaiah, Natalie, Mika and Marceline “Marcy”; two sisters, Fran Haggard Kemp and Jean Haggard; and numerous nephews and nieces; as well as his beloved Porsche 911 SC. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T.
