Bruce Jefferson Callis, Jr.

Bruce Jefferson Callis, Jr., 45, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce J. Callis, Sr.; grandparents, Virginia Trent, Bernard Callis, Annie Wilson, and Milton Wilson; aunts, Linda Cook, Angie Priode, Rebecca Simpson, and Brenda Haskett; and mother-in-law, Peggy Guilliams. Bruce is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melissa Callis; his children, Bruce J. Callis III, Daniel I. Callis, and Danielle Grissom (Justin); grandchildren, Abbygale Gibbs, Gabrielle Gibbs, and Allison Crowell; his mother, Betty Gurganus; siblings, Vernard Nunnally (Gina), and Katherine Petrusich (Jaren); aunts, Laura Marroquin (Gilbert), and Sally Wilson (Robert); uncle, Gene Gurganus (Rhonda); nephews, Jacob and Vernard Nunnally; father-in-law, Kenneth Guilliams, Sr. (Jennifer); brother-in-law, Kenneth Guilliams, Jr.; cousin and closest friend, William Hinchey (Amber); as well as numerous cousins and loving friends.

Bruce loved collecting guns and knives, but loved his family more than anything. He will truly be missed.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery.
