Bulah Elizabeth Lewis

Bulah Lewis, 76, of Kippax Estates, Hopewell, VA passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 in Wonder City Rehab Center. Bulah was born in the mountains of Saint Charles, VA in June of 1945 to Jessie and Mattie Cowan who preceded her in death. She was the 12th of 13 children. Bulah met her husband, Charles Lewis, while attending high school in St. Charles. They were married July 6, 1965 and resided in the Fort Lee & Hopewell where they raised their family. She was a devoted wife and mother that dedicated most of her life to caring for her handicapped daughter Marinda. Bulah was a very kind person that loved doing many types of crafts, especially making quilts by hand. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Charles (Speedy) Lewis; daughters; Marinda Lewis and Melinda Crittenden, son-in-law, Robert Crittenden; and her grandson, Erik L. Crittenden of Russell Springs, KY. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021 at J.T. Morriss & Son Hopewell Chapel. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021 in the chapel. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com .
