Caitlyn Louise Johnson, 20, of Petersburg, daughter of Bobby & Lisa Johnson was taken home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2009. She was born on October 3, 1988 in Starkville, MS. Caitlyn grew up mainly on Army bases in Germany where her father was stationed for 12 years. She moved to Dinwiddie County, VA in August 1999. Caitlyn graduated from Dinwiddie High School in June 2006, and worked at Whataburger on Washington Street in Petersburg from the age of 16 until her passing. Caitlyn gave birth to her daughter, Lisa Marie on October 12, 2008, 9 days after her 20th birthday. Lisa Marie was the center of Caitlyn's life. Bobby Johnson is a retired 22 year Army Veteran who has served in Desert Storm, Somalia, Kosovo, and Iraq. Caitlyn was very proud of her fatherâ??s service to his country. Dakota Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson are her brother and sister; Caitlyn was the middle child. As a military family, growing up the kids were very close, and always were told that family would always be there when all others have left you. Most people do not understand the bond they had as a military family being so far from other family and moving so frequently. Even though she settled in Dinwiddie County, Caitlyn always remembered Germany as the place she grew up and Mississippi as her home. Caitlyn was a peace, love, and happiness girl. She always saw the best in people, and always did so much for others. She never wanted money or material things; she just wanted everyone around her to be happy. When she was 10 years old she heard about a family who did not have anything for their kids for Christmas, and came to her mother and begged her not to give her any presents that year, but to give what she would have gotten to the family in need. She was a kind, gentle, soft hearted, giving person. This world is not a better place without her, and she will be missed greatly by the people in her life that she touched with her smile and her love. Caitlyn left us far too soon, and she left a piece of her behind in Lisa Marie. She had a saying on her Facebook page that was on her Mamaw's (Bobbyâ??s mother) headstone. . .God may not give me what I want, but He gives me what I need. All Caitlyn had was a strong, close bond with her immediate family, and a beautiful baby girl that she loved beyond words, but she felt as though she were the richest person in the world for having those two things, and she was happy with just that. She dearly loved her grandparents Larry and Sylvia McDonald and her numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. There will be a celebration of life in her honor on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. at Picture Lake Campgrounds in Dinwiddie County. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lisa Marie Fitzke Fund, C/O 1st Market Bank, 3107 Boulevard Suite 15, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Condolences may be registered at
