Calvin Webster Pate

Mr. Calvin Webster Pate, 53 of Hopewell, VA., departed this life on Monday, January 16, 2017. Calvin was the son of the late Andrew Pate, Jr. and Catherine Crowder Pate. Calvin was preceded in death by, brothers, Wayne Bailey, Curtis Pate and Charles Pate; sisters, Jermaine Bailey, Vanessa Bailey-Landsford and Cindy Pate-Coleman. Mr. Calvin Pate served in the United States Navy and Calvin was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan! Left to cherish Calvin’s memories, a loving and devoted wife, Marzette-Bynum Pate; children, Sharniece Pate, Raashya Wiliams; one stepson, Demontais Bynum all of Hopewell; brothers, Lonnie Bailey of Richmond, VA., Mark Pate of Petersburg, VA., Greg Pate of South Boston, VA., and Major Pate of Hopewell, VA.; one sister, Linda Pate Johnson of Hopewell, VA.; two sisters-in-law, Marion Studivant of Hopewell, VA., Patrice Charity of Newport News, VA.; one brother-in-law, Wilbert Charity of Fayette, GA.; five grandchildren, Gabbrielle, Ventress, Major, Kenaziah, Savannah; one uncle, Garland Pate; nine aunts, Marjorie Pate, Teresa Pate Rogers, Hattie S. Meadows, Earnestine Turner, Maxine Hamlett, Lacreshia and Clarissa Sanford, Laura Ewell and Sarah Munnerlyn (James); twenty seven nieces and nephews; forty great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews and a host of other cousins and relatives, among them Mr. Edward Cottman, We would like to say thank you. The family will receive friends, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2017 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home 820 W. Broadway Hopewell, VA 23860, where a service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 with The Elder Dominic Holloway officiating. Interment will be private.
